Opnieuw facelift onderweg
De Fiat Ducato is bepaald geen jonkie meer, maar hij moet nog even mee. En dus blijft Stellantis nog met nieuwtjes komen. De elektrische versie kan nu sneller laden, is vanaf nu ook leverbaar met gigantische Cargobox en de Italiaanse fabriek in Atessa levert nu ook elektrische basisvoertuigen voor de camperbranche.
Als we zeggen Fiat Ducato, dan hebben we het trouwens over veel meer auto’s. Dan gaat het over alle ‘large vans’ van Stellantis Pro One, het bedrijfsonderdeel dat alle bestelauto’s en pick-ups maakt. Het gaat dus ook over de Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Toyota Proace Max en Opel Movano.
Hoewel de ontwikkelingen in de bestelautobranche in een ander tempo gaan, moeten ook bestelauto’s elektrificeren. De Fiat e-Ducato krijgt een technische update, waardoor hij voortaan met 22 kW kan laden, in plaats van 11 kW. Als hij aan een paal staat die die 22 kW kan leveren, dan laad je de 110 Kwh-batterij van leeg naar vol in zes uur. De DC-snellaadfunctie blijft ongewijzigd op 150 kW.
Koeling
Stellantis is daarnaast begonnen met de uitrol van het CustomFit-programma. Dat betekent dat bepaalde aanpassingen aan de bestelauto niet meer bij derden hoeven te gebeuren, maar reeds bij de productie in de fabriek. Denk aan een (kiepende) laadbak of koeling in de laadruimte. Er komt een uitgebreide catalogus aan opties, en als je die bestelt dan wordt de Ducato (of Jumper, Boxer etcetera) van de lijn geplukt en voorzien van de gewenste op- of ombouw. Volgens Fiat versnelt het de levering en verhoogt het de kwaliteit van de gepersonaliseerde variant. Nieuw is dat de elektrische variant nu ook leverbaar is met de Cargobox, een opbouw van 18,3 m3 of zelfs 20,5 m3 op het langste chassis. Dat is een beste verhuiswagen.
EV camperbasis
Elektrische kampeerauto’s zijn er nog bijna helemaal niet en camperfabrikanten hebben te maken met een zeer afwachtende markt. Er is weinig vraag vanuit camperaars naar elektrische campers. Het gewicht van het batterijpakket is een probleem om het uiteindelijke rijklaargewicht van een camper zo laag te houden dat je ook nog je boodschappen, water en tuinstoelen kunt meenemen. Daarnaast maken veel mensen zich nog zorgen of de actieradius niet te beperkt zal zijn. Maar vanaf nu levert Stellantis ook chassis’ met elektrische aandrijflijn aan camperfabrikanten, zodat zij ermee aan de slag kunnen.
Nog even wachten op volledig nieuw
Een compleet nieuwe bus zit er voorlopig nog niet in, ook al is dit model al bijna 20 jaar in productie. Binnenkort volgt weer een kleine update van het huidige model met nieuwe led-koplampen, andere stoelen en verbeterde rijhulpsystemen.
Another Facelift on the Way
The Fiat Ducato is certainly not a youngster anymore, but it has to last a little longer. So Stellantis keeps coming up with news. The electric version can now charge faster, is now also available with a gigantic Cargobox, and the Italian factory in Atessa now also supplies electric basic vehicles for the camper industry.

Although developments in the van industry are progressing at a different pace, vans also have to electrify. The Fiat e-Ducato is getting a technical update, which means it can now charge with 22 kW instead of 11 kW. If it is connected to a charging station that can deliver that 22 kW, you can charge the 110 Kwh battery from empty to full in six hours. The DC fast charging function remains unchanged at 150 kW.
Cooling
Stellantis has also started rolling out the CustomFit program. This means that certain adjustments to the van no longer have to be done by third parties, but already during production in the factory. Think of a (tipping) loading platform or cooling in the loading space. There will be an extensive catalog of options, and if you order it, the Ducato (or Jumper, Boxer, etc.) will be picked from the line and provided with the desired construction or conversion. According to Fiat, it speeds up delivery and increases the quality of the personalized variant. New is that the electric version is now also available with the Cargobox, a superstructure of 18.3 m3 or even 20.5 m3 on the longest chassis. That is quite a moving van.
EV Camper Base
Electric motorhomes are almost non-existent yet, and motorhome manufacturers are dealing with a very cautious market. There is little demand from campers for electric campers. The weight of the battery pack is a problem to keep the final ready-to-drive weight of a camper so low that you can still take your groceries, water and garden chairs with you. In addition, many people are still worried that the range will not be too limited. But from now on, Stellantis will also supply chassis with electric powertrains to camper manufacturers so that they can get started with it.
Wait a Little Longer for Completely New
A completely new van is not in the cards for the time being, even though this model has been in production for almost 20 years. Soon there will be another small update of the current model with new LED headlights, different seats and improved driving assistance systems.
