According to Acda & De Munnik, it rains sunbeams. But it also rains NCAP stars. In the context of safety tests, Euro NCAP has wrecked ten cars. Five of them return home with the maximum achievable score.
We start with the cars that passed the NCAP tests with flying colors. The Lynk & Co 02, Polestar 4, and Zeekr 7X each scored five NCAP stars. The Omoda 9, which is coming to the Netherlands, also earned five NCAP stars, as did the Maxus e-Terron 9.
Three of the five remaining automotive candidates that scored four NCAP stars are not yet known in the Netherlands. These are the Cherry Tiggo 7, the recently announced Chery Tiggo 8 for Europe, and the Ford Tourneo Courier, which is not coming our way after all. The fourth and fifth are more familiar: the Hyundai Inster and the also electric Ford Puma Gen-E.
The Hyundai Inster scored the lowest in the area of safety for adult occupants among the nine models wrecked. In this area, the Inster achieved 70 percent of the achievable points. The Puma Gen-E scored 75 percent of the achievable points in this area. After the side impact, the door of the Inster was no longer closed; Euro NCAP fears that the door could fly open in a side impact. It nevertheless calls the safety score of the small EV ‘praiseworthy’.
