Sharper, but also softer
Not even a year and a half after the updated Aston Martin Vantage made its world debut, the British are launching an extra sporty variant. This is the Aston Martin Vantage S.
In February 2024, the then seven-year-old Aston Martin Vantage returned from a thorough session on the cutting table. So much even changed that the British spoke of a new generation. It is that greatly renewed and 665 hp and 800 Nm strong Vantage that must now recognize its superior in the Aston Martin Vantage S.
Stronger and faster
Like the Vantage, the Vantage S has the familiar 4.0 V8 with two turbochargers from Mercedes-Benz AMG. However, that eight-cylinder rams 680 hp to the rear wheels in the Vantage S. Thanks to the lightning-fast shifting of the eight-speed automatic transmission, the Vantage S sprints from standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. A real 0.1 second faster than the original. Its top speed: 325 km/h.
There is more than just more power. For example, the throttle response as well as the feel in the accelerator pedal has been adjusted, the sporty Brit has adapted driving modes, the suspension has been revised and the Vantage S has new engine mounts. Striking here: the dampers at the rear are adjusted slightly softer and the supports of the transmission are 10 percent less stiff. According to Aston Martin, this makes the car a little more comfortable at lower speeds. Remarkable for an S version.
More adjustments? There are. For example, the subframe is screwed directly against the body without the intervention of rubbers. Also, the wheel geometry has been revised and there are various software-based adjustments.
From the outside you can recognize the Vantage S by its new slots in the hood that should be able to provide the V8 with more cooling. There are also the necessary S badges, extra lips and edges and a rear spoiler that delivers up to 44 kilos of extra downforce. Adjustments to the bottom of the car deliver up to 67 kilos at top speed.
Both the closed Aston Martin Vantage S and the open Aston Martin Vantage Roadster S will be on the market in the last quarter of this year. We do not yet have Dutch prices.
