Lekker refurbishen
More and more car parts are being reused instead of being replaced by new ones. This is according to research by Actronics.
This year, 20 percent more so-called ‘refurbished’ car parts are being used than five years ago. According to Actronics, this is due to various developments. For example, new cars and car parts are becoming increasingly expensive, making it financially more attractive to opt for reuse. Revision techniques have also improved, and more and more people and companies are attaching extra value to sustainability and circularity.
The financial aspect will undoubtedly play a decisive role for many people. Not surprising, because according to Actronics, reused parts can be on average up to 84 percent cheaper than new ones. The company’s expectation is that reuse will only play a greater role in the future.
Actronics also compared some prices of new and refurbished parts. There are some striking differences to be seen there. For example, a new (probably new old stock) instrument panel for a Ford Focus Mk2 costs no less than €1,052.27, while according to Actronics a refurbished one is already available for €159. If you need a new ABS for your Volkswagen Golf V, you can easily spend almost €1,700, while a reused one costs €199. That makes a significant difference.
