This Rover 216 is entirely as he hears – Enthusiast

For a Rover-lover

Rover 216

Picture a Rover from the 90s, and chances are this is exactly the image you’ll conjure up. This Rover 216 is presented as it ‘should’ be.

The 90s weren’t necessarily the pinnacle of Rover’s history, but even then, the British were still making wonderfully quirky cars. The Honda basis was sometimes undeniable, as with the 200 series. You don’t have to look twice to see that this Rover 216 had a Japanese cousin in the form of the Honda Concerto. However, there’s a delightful Rover touch to it, especially with this particular one. In green with its chrome grille, the appearance is delightfully British.

Rover 216Inside, the Rover takes it up a notch. That is to say, the almost obligatory wooden trim is of course present. Furthermore, it looks quite sober, although we are indeed dealing with a fairly luxurious 216 here. For example, it has power windows in the front and rear, and electrically adjustable mirrors. Air conditioning, on the other hand, is not present, although that’s certainly no shame for a car from 1993 in this segment. Nice detail: the original radio is still present. That, combined with the fact that there is an automatic transmission, suggests that this Rover belonged to someone of age.

Undoubtedly, that played a role in aging so gracefully. Because let’s be honest, whether it’s to your taste or not, this is a particularly handsome 32-year-old car. The mileage of 147,897 km reflects a fairly quiet existence. Yet, all in all, it’s still no guarantee of a good experience. For example, pay extra attention to the head gasket, which is a weak point. Perhaps the previous owner, who parted with it after just two months, discovered something unpleasant. For €3,250, it should be in good order.
