Car sales: Half of all new cars are hybrid

Half or all new cars in the Netherlands have a hybrid powertrain. This and more is evident from Figures from Bovag, Rai Association, and RDC.

In August, 26,663 New Passenger Cars Were Registered in The Netherlands. That is 3 percent less than in August Last Year when 27.404 New Passenger Cars Were registered. If we sweep the figures over the first eight months of this year into a heap, we arrive at a total of 237,909 registered new cars. That is 3.8 percent less than in the first eight months of last year.

Almost Half or All New Passenger Cars registered in The Netherlands in August Have A Mild-Hybrid, Full-hybrid, OR Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain. The Market Share of Hybrid Cars in August was 49 percent. That Market Share was 5 percentage Points Higher than in August Last Year (44 percent). The Share that fully electric cars had in The August Registrations was 0.2 percentage Point Lower. In August, More Than a Third of All New Cars Were Evs. The Market Share of Cars With Traditional and Therefore Non-Electrified Gasoline Engines Decreased by 5 percent.
