Cross-over, but affordable
The Ford Focus can no longer be ordered new in the Netherlands and will come to the end in 2025 in 2025. There is no successor, but reportedly arrives in 2027.
To be clear: a new Ford Focus is still not coming. According to the English Autocar, which, by the way, has a hand to speculate it, Ford will certainly fill the ‘focus-shaped gap’ in the line-up.
That seems to be cutting, especially since there is indeed a huge gap in Ford’s offer if the focus will soon be completely gone. Ford then only has the Puma of Captur format and the Kuga of Tiguan format in the petrol area. Where Renault and Volkswagen fill the void between those models with cars such as the Symbioz, Arkana and the Net New T-Roc, Ford for the time being only has a gaping void in this super-important intermediate segment for Europe. A cross-over-like car between the Puma and the Kuga would therefore fit perfectly with Ford, and in particular the European sales of the brand can give a huge boost.
According to AutoCar, the new cross-over, built in Spain, could even become one of Fords worldwide bestsellers, with a production capacity of 300,000 pieces per year. Although of course we know nothing concrete about the new car or its powertrains, it will explicitly be a non-electric car. After all, Ford already has a very wide range in that area, while the brand has a limited offer on gasoline and hybrid flak. Chairman of the Board Bill Ford emphasizes the persistent interest of the gasoline engine with the following words: “What went wrong is that the supervisors were the customers. That is never a good situation. In the future, electrification will play a very important role, but it will not be the only role. The ICE sector will gradually be phased out, but what happens per region will differ.”
