Renault Arkana no longer available

‘Symbioz is too close’

Renault tacitly deleted the stubborn Arkana from the range. The compact Coupé-SUV did not do it unkind in terms of sales figures, but, according to Renault, is too close in particular the newer Symbioz.

In fact, the Arkana – we talk about the car in the past tense – was exactly what the Symbioz is, namely an extended Captur. Where the Symbioz, however, converts that extra length into a station wagon into more luggage space, the Arkana was mainly about creating a hip coupé-SUV. You can find everything about it, but the fact is that Renault had something unique in his hands with that body form in this segment (somewhere between B and C, for enthusiasts). That also yielded quite a few sales figures, but lately Renault also received the criticism that the SUV offer was very extensive. With the arrival of the Symbioz, there were suddenly no fewer than six high -legged Renaults, where we forget the fully electric models for some convenience. Moreover, those six cars used only two platforms in total and were therefore per sets of three in more or less the same segment. With the Arkana, they were a nice reflection of each other, with Captur/Austral, Symbioz/Espace and Arkana/Rafale as each other’s equals in different segments.

Renault apparently thought it was a bit too much of a good thing, because the Arkana is no longer available. The model was the only one of the series not yet provided with Renault’s new design language and that will never happen. Renault explains the disappearance of the Arkana as follows: “Now that the Symbioz model is well established on the market, we have decided to stop the sale of the Arkana to maintain the cohesion and clarity within the range. The applications and pricing of Arkana lay close to those of Symbioz.”

The SymbioZ is technically strong on the Arkana, but has a very different character

The Renault Arkana was presented in 2018 at the International Auto Show in – yes – Moscow. The arrival to the Netherlands was announced in 2020 and since then a total of 7,000 Arkana’s have been sold, with 2022 with 2,408 copies the best year. At the time of writing there is still a handful of copies in stock, but then it is ready in the Netherlands. The Arkana remains in production and remains on the menu in Spain, Poland and Romania, among others, until mid -2026. Also in Belgium you can simply configure an Arkana.
