It won’t be because of the power
The first electric Ferrari has officially made itself known. Almost literally, because the Ferrari Elettrica must emit a unique and ‘real’ sound. It will also be the heaviest Ferrari ever, but that will undoubtedly not hinder its dynamic qualities.
Ferrari’s first EV has been in the air for some time and will now be officially called ‘Ferrari Elettrica’. We didn’t expect anything other than a literal description from the company that came up with names like ‘Superfast’ and ’12Cilindri’. The bodywork of the Elettrica will remain a secret for a while, but Ferrari will, as promised, shed some light on the car’s technology. Enthusiasts can rest assured in at least one respect, because Ferrari is not making it easy. The reporting conveys that this Ferrari will also be a unique and completely designed product by Ferrari, with two electric ‘axles’ that were developed entirely by the Italians themselves. This even applies to the battery, which, according to its makers, sets records in that area with an energy density of 195 Wh per kg. Fast charging is possible thanks to the 800V architecture with a maximum of 350 kW.
The first electric Ferrari has already been spotted, although this appearance does not say much about the final car.
We have not yet found a total amount of kWh battery capacity, but Ferrari promises a driving range of more than 530 kilometers. Quite reasonable, especially for what is expected to be a fairly high model that also weighs no less than 2,300 kg. This will make the Elettrica about 300 kg heavier than the Purosangue, although that is not surprising given the electric drive. The two electric motors know what to do with all that weight, because together they generate more than 1,000 hp in ‘boost mode’. This should ensure a 0 to 100 time of 2.5 seconds and – if possible even more impressive in EV land – a top of 310 km/h.
Sound
Ferrari has been looking ahead to its first EV for years and now emphasizes that the car will distinguish itself through its sound, among other things. Yes, you read that correctly. The brand plans to amplify the sounds coming from the powertrain and transmit them to the occupants, creating an ‘authentic sound experience’. So no purely artificial whirring sounds, but an artificially amplified version of the vibrations that the technology really generates.
We’ll learn what that sounds like sometime in 2026, when the first electric Ferrari will actually arrive. The unveiling is planned for the spring, but before then we will get a preview of the interior.
Power will not be an issue
