Electric Volkswagen Transporter Taxi will bring thousands of Dutch people home

Volkswagen e-Transporter Kombi Taxi

The Volkswagen Transporter already comes in numerous varieties, and now there is a new one. This is the Volkswagen e-Transporter Kombi Taxi. As its name suggests, it is specifically intended for use as a taxi.

The Volkswagen Transporter is available with diesel engines, plug-in hybrid powertrains, and even electric powertrains. There are also four-wheel-drive versions and various body styles. The choice is huge and is only getting bigger. Meet an electric version of the Transporter specifically designed for the taxi market. This is the Volkswagen e-Transporter Kombi Taxi.

The basis of this new taxi version of the Volkswagen Transporter is a familiar one. There was already an electrically driven passenger version of the commercial vehicle called the Kombi, not to be confused with the more stylish and more passenger car-oriented (e-)Caravelle. The Volkswagen e-Transporter Kombi with the Taxi addition seats nine occupants, three in each seating row. These seats are upholstered with wear-resistant and dirt-repellent fabric. A heat pump, climate control, and the ability to electronically preheat the interior are standard, as are rear parking sensors. There is an emergency hatch in the roof, and together with other adjustments, the electric taxi bus meets all legal requirements according to Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen e-Transporter Kombi Taxi has a 64 kWh battery and is expected to achieve a range of 327 kilometers from it. The starting price of the new variant is €46,990. Unfortunately, extensive imagery is not yet available.
