BMW is affected by the conflict surrounding the Dutch chipmaker Nexperia, which is related to Chinese and American export restrictions. This impacts suppliers of the German automaker.
“Parts of our supplier network have been affected,” a BMW spokesperson stated via email. “We are in close contact with our suppliers and are continuously monitoring the situation to identify any supply risks at an early stage and take appropriate measures where necessary.”
BMW did not provide further details about the issues. The automaker’s factories are operating according to plan, the spokesperson reported.
The Dutch government recently placed Nexperia under trusteeship out of concern that its Chinese parent company Wingtech might withdraw important knowledge or activities from Europe. Judges from the enterprise chamber distanced Wingtech and CEO Zhang Xuezheng following complaints about mismanagement. China subsequently imposed an export ban on Nexperia.
