Leapmotor is launching even more cheap electric models

Focus on more for less

Leap engine B05

Leapmotor is far from done introducing relatively affordable electric models. Among others, there’s still a compact hatchback and a compact crossover coming. No, these are not the B05 and B10!

For those who have lost track: with the help of Stellantis, the Chinese Leapmotor now sells the T03, B10 and C10 in Europe. The T03 is a small electric hatchback in the segment of the Dacia Spring. So an A-segment car. The Leapmotor B10 is an electric crossover that, at 4.52 meters long, is only slightly shorter than a Volkswagen ID4, but significantly cheaper. The 4.74 meter long C10 sits above that, making this SUV about ten centimeters longer than, say, a Skoda Enyaq. The gap between the T03 and B10 will soon be partially filled by an electric hatchback the size of a Golf: the Leapmotor B05. In this rapidly expanded model range, there is still room for more models. And they are coming.

Between the T03 and this B05, there is room for a smaller hatchback and an SUV sibling.

So Leapmotor will also introduce a ‘compact hatchback and a compact SUV’. In both cases, these are electric models. Leapmotor hasn’t provided extensive information about them yet. We expect it to be an electric hatchback in the B-segment, meaning a car that in terms of size should compete with cars like the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and the upcoming Volkswagen ID Polo. The new compact SUV that Leapmotor promises would likely become the crossover alternative to that. So that should become an affordable alternative to cars like the Peugeot e-2008 and all its cousins within Stellantis. Skoda and Volkswagen are also coming with electric crossovers of that size.

We don’t yet know what the newcomers will be called. If we spin the speculation mill, names like A05 for the hatchback and A10 for the compact SUV come out. The brand chooses – with the exception of the T03 – in Europe to indicate the placement in the range with a letter in the model name. The number in the model name indicates the body variant. So the B10 and C10 are both SUV-like and the B05 is a hatchback.
