These are the five cheapest used cars from the first owner and with low mileage

First owner cars

Cheap, no more than one owner and low mileage; that sounds like a difficult combination. But it’s not impossible. These five used cars meet those requirements. It’s striking that you can’t avoid Fiat.

Renault Twingo – 2005 – 41,590 – €2,250

Voila! A Renault Twingo with only 41,590 kilometers on the odometer. This Twingo 1.2 Lazuli celebrates its twentieth birthday this weekend. So we’re dealing with a Twingo from the first generation. That made its debut in 1993. During its nearly fifteen-year lifespan, the small Renault was facelifted several times. The last time was in 2004. So this Twingo from 2005 is highly developed. The appearance has remained virtually unchanged over all those years.

The Twingo shouldn’t rely on its speed. With 75 hp it’s not a racing monster, but on the other hand: who buys a Twingo to win traffic light sprints or race over mountain roads? The Twingo should rely on its ingenuity. The rear seat that can be slid backwards ensures that adults can also endure it in the back seat. All seats can also be folded down, making it even possible to lie down in the mere 3.4-meter-long cart. The foldable bench allows the luggage space to be expanded to 1095 liters.

The Twingo naturally has a distinctive appearance. The cheeky look can be reason enough to buy a Twingo. Furthermore, the car is very light (804 kg) and that is clearly reflected in the road tax. That amounts to between 67 and 74 euros per quarter. The factory-stated fuel consumption of 5.8 liters per 100 km (1 in 17.2) is also low.

So the Twingo hasn’t driven that many kilometers and that shows. From the outside and inside, it still looks tip-top. There’s little room for color on the outside, but inside you’re spoiled with cheerful seat upholstery and round buttons. Nice that the original radio is still in it! Besides the electrically operated front windows, there are very few options on this Twingo.

Fiat Cinquecento – 1997 – 48,996 – €2,750

That Twingo is nice, but the Fiat Cinquecento also has a particularly cheeky appearance. This black Cinquecento comes from 1997 and has only covered 48,996 kilometers in its 28-year existence. You could say the A-segmenter enjoys cult status. It owes this mainly to its affordability, which made many people choose the Italian as their first car. Nowadays the Fiat is much rarer, but you don’t (yet) have to see that reflected in the price.

Is the Cinquecento as small as it looks? Yes indeed, with a length of 3.2 meters, a width of 1.5 meters and a height of 1.4 meters, it’s a very compact car, especially in today’s street scene. It weighs only 701 kilograms. Therefore, the Cinquecento didn’t need to be equipped with a large engine. This Young version has an 899 cc block in the front. Good for a power of 39 hp. The low weight does ensure that the Fiat is nicely maneuverable. You also hardly have to pay road tax: between 51 and 56 euros. According to the factory, 6.1 liters of gasoline are consumed per 100 kilometers (1 in 16.4). That makes the fixed costs particularly low. The Fiat is still in top condition. The red detail on the side makes it look almost sporty. Inside, the bright blue seats stand out. A cheerful surprise! The dashboard looks retro. Otherwise it’s spartan; even a glove compartment is missing. The Cinquecento hasn’t had a valid MOT since May 14th and will therefore need to be inspected again. Do you dare? The Fiat is for sale in Uden.

Fiat Seicento – 1999 – 49,723 – €2,950

The Fiat Seicento is the successor to the Cinquecento and that also applies in this list. This red example just falls within the set limit with its 49,723 km on the odometer. The Seicento comes from 1999.

The Seicento is based on the same platform group as its predecessor Cinquecento, the engine has also been adopted. So for the Seicento also applies: 899 cc and 39 hp. Fine for in the city, but on the highway it’s maxed out. The Seicento is still a small car, but it became a few centimeters longer compared to the Cinquecento. It also became slightly heavier. Fortunately, those extra kilos have no influence on the road tax rate. That is also no higher than 56 euros per quarter for this car. The fuel consumption is also the same as its predecessor. Fortunately, not everything is the same, because the Seicento got a new, smoother-shifting gearbox.

The ‘six hundred’ for sale here is one in the Young version. The bodywork still looks nice and the bright red paint seems to be in good condition. The wheels look less nice: peace is present. The seats again have a flashy color. The purple seats and round buttons make the car playful. The car isn’t luxurious, but the rear seat is foldable and the windows are tinted. The Seicento still has a few weeks of MOT left. From November 14th it needs to be inspected again. Interested? This Fiat is for sale in Hoogeveen.

Fiat Punto – 1996 – 49,138 – €2,950

Fiat built affordable cars in the nineties, hence they’re frequently found in this list. Just look at this Fiat Punto with 49,138 kilometers on the odometer. This Fiat comes from 1996 and therefore belongs to the first, but now very rare, generation of the Punto that was sold between 1993 and 1998.

The Punto isn’t as small as the two previous Fiats in this list and that means the engine is somewhat more mature. Under the hood of the Punto 55 S lies a 1.1-liter four-cylinder that delivers 54 hp. The low weight and small engine provide a reasonably economical combination. According to factory specifications, the Fiat consumes 6.4 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers (1 in 15.6). The road tax is also low: that costs you between 67 and 74 euros per quarter.

The Fiat looks fine, but it’s a very black overall. Inside everything looks solid and we again see colored seats. The turquoise upholstery gives the car color. Unfortunately, this Punto has no nice extras.

According to the RDW, the Fiat hasn’t had an MOT since April 1, 2021. So the question is what’s necessary to get it driving again. Are you considering becoming the second owner of the Punto? Then you can go to Apeldoorn.

Volkswagen Fox – 2007 – 41,182 – €3,250

You probably wondered: when will a German car come along? Here it is: a silver-gray Volkswagen Fox from 2007. The Fox has only driven 41,182 kilometers. During its lifespan from 2005 to 2011, the Volkswagen Fox was the smallest in the Volkswagen range. The Fox was manufactured in Brazil. It’s the successor to the Lupo and the predecessor to the Up.

The Fox is more substantial than the cars above. That makes it a bit heavier, but at 973 kilograms it’s no heavyweight. In the nose lies a 1.2-liter three-cylinder that delivers 54 hp. Before you hit one hundred from a standstill, 17.5 seconds have passed. On the other hand, the drivetrain is reasonably economical. According to the factory, the German drinks 6.1 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers (1 in 16.4). The road tax costs you an amount between 114 and 125 euros every three months.

The Volkswagen Fox in this version isn’t a striking car, but the paint is still in good condition. No dents are noticeable either. A nice extra are the alloy wheels on which these Fox stands. The interior is solid but not very special. Don’t count on colored seats. In the Fox 1.2 Trendline they’re just gray. There aren’t many special options, but the car is equipped with central door locking.

The Volkswagen Fox still has 11 months of MOT until September 25, 2026. According to the seller, new tires have also recently been fitted. Do you want to become the second owner of this Fox? It’s for sale in Heinenoord. That’s just south of Rotterdam.
