Remarkable spy shots

BMW is preparing for a massive renewal offensive. Part of the fleet of new or updated models coming our way is the brand new BMW X5. In these photos, you can see it better than ever.
With the launch of the new iX3, BMW fired the starting shot for what it calls a new era. BMW will introduce no less than 40 updated or new models by 2027, all of which will receive design influences and – in the case of purely electric models – also powertrains from the Neue Klasse family. Virtually every BMW that doesn’t undergo a generation change within the next two years will receive a comprehensive facelift. BMW is coming with a new X5 with combustion engines, as well as a fully electric BMW iX5 that resembles it but doesn’t share a single screw. It’s that new electric BMW iX5 that you can see better than ever in these spy photos.

The BMW iX5 will look quite similar to the new BMW iX3.
Recently, BMW itself released photos of a wrapped iX5 Hydrogen. That hydrogen version of the new iX5 was still heavily covered in camouflage, while the vehicle in the photos above shows more of its final window design. More concretely designed taillights and headlights are also visible through the camouflage. The new BMW iX5 will become more of a ‘larger version’ of the iX3 than the current X5 is of the X3. Notable are the taillight signature that differs from the iX3 and the small, high-positioned door handles that also draw attention. In the door panels, we don’t see any ‘shapes’ of integrated handles at all, which suggests that BMW is giving the iX5 Mustang Mach-E-like handles.
So far, we only know the new BMW iX3 as a 470 hp strong 50 xDrive with a 108 kWh battery and a range of over 800 kilometers. We expect a similar powertrain in the BMW iX5, as well as less powerful and more potent versions. We also expect that the new iX5 will certainly not be inferior to the iX3 in terms of charging capacity. Thanks to 800v on-board voltage, you can fast charge this SUV with up to 400 kW.
We expect the new BMW iX5 – just like the new X5 – to make its public debut next year.
