Not every new electric car registered in the Netherlands is bought by a private individual. In fact, most are not, according to figures requested by Automotive-Online.nl from the Association of Dutch Car Leasing Companies (VNA).

Of all lease cars registered in the Netherlands in October, 51 percent were fully electric, reports Automotive-Online.nl. Never before has the share of electric cars in the registration of new lease cars exceeded 50 percent. Last year, that percentage was 44 percent.

Even more interesting: of all electric cars registered in the Netherlands in the first ten months of this year, 62 percent were lease cars. The majority of new EVs are therefore not bought by private individuals.
