Euro 7 e

The plug-in hybrid BMW M5 and XM Label have gone through the homologation process. The result: they are allowed to stay, but the V8 delivers less power than before.
Until now, the plug-in hybrid BMW M5 had a 585 hp V8 that worked with a 197 hp electric motor housed in the automatic transmission. The system output: 727 hp. The same drivetrain is found in the BMW XM Label, although the combination in that SUV is good for 748 hp. BMW has put these two plug-in hybrid M models through the homologation process. The result: they comply with the Euro 7 emission standard and are therefore allowed to stay. However, the V8 loses horsepower.
The V8 in the BMW M5 is now 544 hp instead of 585 hp. The electric motor has not been changed, but its software has. As a result, the system output of 727 hp remains unchanged. Just like the 4.4 V8 of the M5, the eight-cylinder of the XM Label is also reduced to 544 hp. Here too, the system output of 748 hp remains unchanged thanks to rewritten software.
The BMW M5 as a Sedan costs a minimum of €148,092 and as an M5 Touring can be taken home from €150,873. The BMW XM Label costs a minimum of €188,200. The XM is also available as the less powerful XM 50e, costing €134,665. This is also a plug-in hybrid, but is less powerful with 476 hp. Moreover, this version does not have a V8 but a 3.0 in-line six-cylinder.
