Five million

The Mazda CX-5 has reached a special milestone. Five million of them have been built and sold. It is the third Mazda model ever to achieve this.
Free sushi for lunch today at Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima, because there’s a party to celebrate. Five million units of the Mazda CX-5 have now been sold worldwide. A milestone that is quite special within Mazda, as only two other models achieved this before. We are talking about the 323 and its successor, the 3. Who could have imagined at the time of the 323 that an SUV could also be such a success?

This is how we got to know the Mazda CX-5 in 2011.
The CX-5 took roughly fourteen years to reach this milestone. We got to know the Mazda CX-5 in September 2011 at the IAA in Frankfurt, and it went into production shortly thereafter. In 2022, the count stood at 3.5 million units. Here in the Netherlands, the CX-5 is, by the way, the fourth most popular model since 1983. The 323, the 626, and the 2 accounted for larger numbers. About 36,000 new units have been registered in our country to date. Last summer, the completely new third generation of the CX-5 appeared, which, thanks to its even slightly lower price, will undoubtedly attract many people to the showroom again.
There is certainly no shortage of used Mazda CX-5s in our country. For example, our used car offerings include no fewer than 1,251 units. The cheapest used CX-5 has an asking price of €4,900, but it also has a very respectable mileage.
