Caravan towers drive relatively young cars

It’s lunchtime, so there’s probably some ‘pull’. The same goes for Mazda, as the Japanese declare that the CX-5 is the most popular towing car in the Netherlands for the eighth consecutive year.
Reportedly, 7.5 percent of all caravan towers in the Netherlands drive a Mazda CX-5. That seems like a difficult claim to fully substantiate, but it is certainly revealed by research from camping magazine ACSI Freelife. The Mazda CX-5 proves to be the most popular car among the surveyed caravan owners. Mazda’s SUV is praised for – naturally – its high towing weight. Reliability, comfort, and space are also important purchasing arguments for CX-5 drivers who tow caravans.
The Mazda CX-5 is often mentioned as a popular or good towing car in Europe, and that’s not surprising. The CX-5 (including the outgoing model) is allowed to tow 2,000 kg and is furthermore not a PHEV or EV, which often leads to disadvantages when it comes to towing weight and/or ease of use for caravan towing. The CX-5 is also of a size that is still palatable for many Europeans, while a car like the CX-60 (a PHEV, with an even higher towing weight) quickly becomes too large and especially too expensive.
The research among caravan owners also shows that they own relatively young cars on average. Almost half of all towing vehicles are a maximum of five years old, and three-quarters are younger than 10. Furthermore, 36.4 percent of respondents buy their car new, which underscores that this can be an important market for car brands in the Netherlands.
