Agreement on collective labor agreement
Strikes at car companies have been quite frequent in recent months, but that will come to an end for the time being. There is namely a collective labor agreement for the industry.
The strikes at car dealers, garage owners and bicycle companies are over for the time being. Trade unions FNV and CNV have reached an agreement with employers’ organization Bovag after months of negotiations on a new collective labor agreement for almost three years. In the sector, which employs nearly 85,000 people, strikes have been taking place since February.
In the period from February 1, 2025, up to and including October 31, 2027, wages will increase by 10.8 percent according to the agreement. The first step, of 2.2 percent, is per June 1. An increase of 1.3 percent will follow on October 1, with the remainder following in the coming years. Furthermore, there is agreement on abolishing the obligation to work overtime and there will be more opportunities for informal care.
“This is a great result,” responded FNV negotiator Egon Groen. “Everything has become more expensive in recent years. Employees are now being compensated for this, and even more than that.” The members of the trade unions still have to agree to the agreement.
