Dark clouds are gathering over the American cousin of the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Dodge Hornet. Stellantis is delaying the possible facelift of the model.
Whether and when the Dodge Hornet will get a facelift and be allowed to go for a second round is very questionable. This is according to reports from Automotive News. The medium says that Stellantis has postponed the start of production of the ‘2026 Hornet’ until further notice, as it is examining the effects of U.S. import duties. This likely concerns a facelifted version. The Alfa Romeo Tonale may also get a refresh at the end of this year or next year.
The Dodge Hornet, which, like the Alfa Romeo Tonale, is built in Italy, is already not selling well and could have an even harder time due to the import duties. Perhaps postponement will even turn into cancellation, and the Hornet will call it quits sooner than expected. Dodge sold just over 20,000 Hornets last year (the first full year of sales) in the U.S., this year the count is just over 5,600 units, so it seems the peak is already behind us for the time being.
