Lekker weg
The ANWB expects the Dutch roads to be quite busy on Friday and the rest of the weekend due to the start of the summer vacation in the south of the country. Traffic may already get congested from noon on Friday.
The ANWB anticipates the most delays on the roads in Noord-Brabant, in the center of the country, in Gelderland and on the A2 and A27 from Utrecht to the south. Border controls cause delays at the German borders. Furthermore, the ANWB warns about the road works on the south side of Amsterdam. These have been leading to long traffic jams in and around the capital for days.
Rijkswaterstaat also warns road users about extra traffic. “Many people leave immediately after school, which means that the rush hour can start early on Friday afternoon,” said the authority. The road manager also warns that road works are being carried out in many places in the Netherlands.
In France, the ANWB expects crowds on the A7 and on the A9 from Orange to the Spanish border on Saturday. The ANWB also anticipates traffic around Lille due to the start of the Tour de France
In Germany, it will be busy near Hamburg and south of Munich, according to the ANWB. Road works are being carried out in Germany at around 1200 locations.
