The Chinese manufacturer BYD has presented something that no other car manufacturer has done earlier. At least, it says itself. BYD would be the first car manufacturer to be broken by the 13 million New Energy Vehicles .
The Chinese BYD may only play a small role in the Netherlands, worldwide and especially in the home country of China it is of course a huge player. After manufacturers such as Toyota and the Volkswagen Group, it is one of the largest car builders in the world. It now celebrates that it has produced its 13 millionth New Energy Vehicle (NEV). Another manufacturer would have succeeded.
What exactly is a New Energy Vehicle? In the NEV category, not all electrified cars, only fully electric or models with BYDs ‘Super Hybrid with DM technology’ drivers. So the plug-in hybrid powertrains from BYD Auto. Hybrid cars without plug does not count BYD to the NEV category. If it did, then it couldn’t celebrate that it had broken a record. Already in 2020 – five years ago – Toyota sold its 15 millionth hybrid car.
At BYD, the Yangwang U7 is currently just the party pig. That is specifically the 13 millionth NEV car from the manufacturer.
