Beating Tesla

BYD is likely to be the world’s largest seller of electric cars this year. It takes that title from Tesla. The two car manufacturers will soon release their sales figures for 2025.
According to an analysis published on Monday by the French news agency AFP, based on sales data already known, it is virtually impossible for the American company led by Elon Musk to maintain its leading position.
BYD’s model range is much larger than Tesla’s, and the Chinese brand stormed the market in the almost past year with an even cheaper EV, the BYD Dolphin Surf. Tesla did launch a more affordable variant of the Model Y, the Standard, but that mid-sized electric SUV cannot compete price-wise with the cheapest electric cars.
