Is fast charging not fast enough for you? Then BYD might have a solution. The company intends to set up a fast-charging network in Europe where you can DC charge with up to 1,000 kW.

Recently, the Chinese BYD launched a new EV platform that, thanks to 1,000 volts on-board voltage, should be able to handle charging capacities of up to 1,000 kW. Now it appears that BYD also plans to actually develop a charging network with fast chargers that offer such a charging capacity. Not for the home market, but for Europe. That’s what Automotive News writes based on statements by Stella Li, head of the European department of BYD.

BYD wants to develop the charging network with ‘megawatt flash chargers’ together with European companies and wants to place chargers at its own dealers or sales points. “This will be groundbreaking and should strengthen consumer confidence in electric driving,” says Stella. In about 5 minutes you should be able to recharge for more than 400 kilometers at BYD’s chargers, of course depending on the charging capacity of your car. Currently, cars like the Lotus Eletre – with a maximum charging capacity of 350 kW – in Europe are among the cars with the highest DC charging capacity.
