A Few Cents Per kWh

Every little bit helps, and in that light, there’s good news for anyone wanting to charge an electric car in South Holland. It will become a bit cheaper in the new year.
Almost everything is constantly getting more expensive. Driving a car will also not get cheaper in the new year, with, among other things, higher excise duties on fuel and a higher road tax (mrb) for EVs and plug-ins. What exactly changes, you can read here. However, fortunately, there are still some things that are getting cheaper. For example, the costs for public charging of (partially) electric cars in South Holland will decrease in many places.
The partnership of South Holland municipalities (SGZH), which is responsible for the tender of public charging stations in a large part of the province (including almost the entire Rijnmond region and the surrounding municipalities of The Hague), confirms the lower rates from January 1st. At so-called SGZH1.0 charging stations, you currently pay 39 cents per kWh, which will become 36 cents. At SGZH2.0 charging stations, the rate will decrease from 48 cents per kWh to 45 cents. In both cases, this means a 3 cent reduction per kWh. For example, if you charge 50 kWh, that saves you €1.50. Not much, but still a nice bonus, especially if you drive a lot. Please note: for these rates, you will need an Equans charging card, otherwise you may incur service fees on top of the rates.
More good news? Absolutely: the rate of 45 cents per kWh at the so-called 2.0 charging stations of the partnership will apply for the entire new year. So you’ll already know what to expect in 2026 if you charge at those stations.
