‘Clean’ gasoline makes your car up to 90 percent cleaner and is already available

But it is (still) more expensive

Klimboeszin95 Gas Station Germany

While everyone is looking at electric or hybrid driving or dreaming about expensive synthetic fuels, you can now refuel in Germany with gasoline for which hardly any fossil ingredients have been used. The CO2 emissions of your gasoline car would thus be reduced by 90 percent in one fell swoop.

How much gasoline is currently in your tank? We hope it’s enough to cover the roughly 350 kilometers (from Utrecht) to Kirchweyhe near Bremen, because that’s where you can get ‘KlimaBenzin95’. According to the makers of that stuff, that means you can blow back full throttle without any remorse, because KlimaBenzin95 is special stuff. The trick of this E10 fuel, which we came across through a message in De Telegraaf, is ‘green methanol’. According to manufacturer Klima Kraftstoffe, this largely replaces the fossil components and would thus make the fuel almost completely petroleum-free. The ’95’ in the name also simply refers to the octane number and KlimaBenzin95 can be used in any (modern) car without adjustments, according to the producer.

More expensive

The new fuel is currently only offered at the Classic gas station in Kirchweyhe, near Bremen, but the idea is of course that (many) more gas stations will follow. At the time of writing, the ‘green’ fuel costs just under €2.30, a lot more than the €1.67 charged here for normal E10 and even a lot more than the €1.82 that Super Plus costs here. However, this is the beginning and of course there is hope that the price of KlimaBenzin95 can drop somewhat due to economies of scale and perhaps also tax benefits.
