California Special

The electric Ford Mustang Mach-E and the real ‘Stangs will soon share more with each other than a handful of design elements, logos, and a sporty character.
What do the Ford Mustang Mach-E and the Mustangs with combustion engines have in common? Very little. One is an electric SUV with five doors, the other a muscle car with a powerful combustion engine. With design elements, logos, and a sporty character, Ford has tried to give the Mustang Mach-E ‘Stang influences. The Mustang Mach-E and the gasoline Mustangs have a new similarity. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is now also available as a California Special.

Ford Mustang Mach-E GT California Special: complete with illuminated logo.
In 1968, Ford first introduced a special edition of the Mustang called the California Special. It didn’t stop at just one variant, also referred to as CS. For example, the previous generation Mustang and even the current model recently received such an edition. Ford is now also immersing the Mustang Mach-E in the bath of CS embellishments. This time, instead of red, blue is the accent color of a Mustang with California Special styling. According to Ford, the blue called Rave Blue refers to the coastline of California. This accent color will also come to the gasoline Mustang California Special, the Americans promise.

The California Special package is available for the Mustang Mach-E GT and includes, among other things, special 20-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic wheel covers, a sticker on the front hood, and a genuine blue illuminated Mustang logo housed in the grille. In the special edition, you’ll find sport seats with perforated upholstery, behind which the blue color returns. We consider it unlikely that the CS package – which costs around €2,150 converted in the United States – will also become available in the Netherlands.
