Electric Porsche Cayenne: Not for sale yet, already breaks record

Porsche Cayenne

The Porsche Cayenne is splitting up. There will be a fully electric Cayenne that will be offered alongside the current model. It is this electric Porsche Cayenne that the Germans are now showing from all angles, although the electric SUV is still richly covered with psychedelic sticker work.

In 2024, the then ten-year-old Porsche Macan in Europe had to make way for a fully electric successor. Porsche is taking a different approach with its big brother Cayenne. The current almost eight-year-old third generation of the Porsche Cayenne will have an electric Cayenne next to it. Indeed: a completely new electric Cayenne next to the current model. That fuel-powered Cayenne will at least get a second facelift to keep it as up-to-date as possible. The real novelties are in the electric sister model.

It is this electric Cayenne that Porsche is now showing a fairly extensive set of photos of, although it is still a wrapped copy. Porsche had Gabriela Jílková drive the wrapped model up the hill during the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb. Jílková is not the least, she is a simulator and development driver at the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. The 914-meter hill climb was completed by the Cayenne in 31.28 seconds. That is more than four seconds faster than the previous fastest time for an electric SUV.

The electric Porsche Cayenne is allowed to tow 3.5 tons and to emphasize this towing ability, the wrapped Cayenne also dragged a trailer with a classic car weighing more than 2 tons on it up the hill.
