‘Ford and Geely talk about close cooperation in Europe’

Ford and Geely might enter into a close partnership. At least, if we are to believe Reuters’ reporting.

Ford and polygamy seem to go well together. For the Explorer and Capri, it approached Volkswagen, and recently the brand announced an extensive partnership with Renault. Future Ford models will be based on Renault platforms. Now, Ford also seems to be flirting with the Chinese Geely. This is evident from Reuters’ reporting, which is based on anonymous sources.

According to Reuters, Geely and Ford are discussing a possible collaboration. The idea: the Chinese Geely will use European Ford factories for the production of cars for the European market. In addition, there would be talks about the possibility of joining forces in various technological areas, including autonomous driving.

Ford stated in a declaration to Reuters that it is ‘constantly talking to many companies about various topics’ and that ‘this sometimes leads and sometimes does not lead to concrete results’. Ford CEO Jim Farley has previously expressed positive sentiments about Chinese cars several times, particularly about the Xiaomi SU7. A lack of positive sentiment therefore does not seem to stand in the way of a possible collaboration between Ford and Geely.
