Hyundai Bayon: no longer a mild hybrid, less power and more expensive

Following the i20

Hyundai Bayon

After the i20, the Hyundai Bayon also goes through the homologation process. With relatively significant consequences. The Hyundai Bayon is no longer available as a mild hybrid and becomes more expensive.

The delivery range of the Hyundai Bayon now looks different than before. The compact crossover previously always had a 100 hp mild-hybrid 1.0 three-cylinder petrol engine. That engine version has disappeared. From now on, the Hyundai Bayon always has the 90 hp and 171 Nm strong variant of that 1.0 without electric assistance. The Bayon must therefore make do with 10 hp less and less electric help. This is accompanied by slightly higher prices. Recently, we saw a similar adjustment to the delivery range of the Hyundai i20.

The mild-hybrid Hyundai Bayon previously started from around €27,000. The Bayon with the 90 hp 1.0 T-GDI without mild-hybrid hardware starts from €28,995. For that amount, you get the E-Motion version (formerly called i-Motion), complete with a manual six-speed gearbox. The Hyundai Bayon is also available with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. For a Bayon with an automatic, you’ll pay at least €33,995, although you then get the Comfort version directly.
