In more and more cars, you can strike up a conversation with a digital AI assistant. In the Tesla Model Y, Model 3, Model S, and Model X, you can now talk to xAI’s AI assistant: Grok.

Tesla has a new piece of software on the menu, with its European rollout now underway: Software version 2026.2.6. This brings xAI’s digital AI assistant Grok to the Tesla Model Y, Model 3, Model S, and Model X. According to Tesla, Grok can answer questions on all kinds of subjects. From physics to mathematics and from biology to history and philosophy. Go ahead. Of course, you can also give Grok navigation commands.

According to Tesla, you can give the Grok assistant various ‘personalities’. It names the modes Assistant, Language Coach, Therapist, Storyteller, Meditation, Doctor, and – indeed – Conspiracy. Additionally, there are specific modes for children: Children’s Stories and Trivia Game. Those who are in a mischievous mood and feel the need can set Grok in the ‘personalities’ modes Unleashed, Sexy, Motivation, Romantic, Reasoned. Go ahead.

You can also choose from one of five different voices: Ara, Eve, Leo, Rex, and Sal. Ara and Eve are, respectively, a cheerful and a soothing female voice, according to Tesla. Leo, Rex, and Sal are, in turn, a British, calm, or soft male voice. To activate and use Grok, Tesla drivers must have a Premium Connectivity subscription or a stable Wi-Fi connection.
