Rock you like a hurricane

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a rather invisible SUV in the Netherlands despite its substantial size. So you’ll probably have to look very closely to see how this updated Jeep Grand Cherokee differs from the original.
Since the Dutch market introduction of the current generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, fewer than 90 units have been registered in the Netherlands. About 35 of those units got Dutch asphalt under their wheels in the first nine months of this year. The Grand Cherokee is not a fast seller, so the chance that you’ve seen a current generation model up close is not very great. The facelift that Jeep is now implementing on the approximately four-year-old SUV is also quite minor.

The pre-facelift Jeep Grand Cherokee that you may have never seen before.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a slightly revised front. The headlights retain their shape but get a different layout. The LED daytime running lights are positioned differently, now featuring an extension that visually dives toward the grille. That grille itself naturally features Jeep’s characteristic seven segments again, though their execution is different this time. The whole is now completely finished in black, with the segments created by six black plastic elements. No facelift without modified bumper work, so we observe subtly renewed examples both front and rear.

Jeep Grand Cherokee: new center console AND a screen for the passenger.
Inside the Grand Cherokee, we also see significant changes. There’s a new flatter but wider infotainment screen with touch-sensitive buttons on either side for features like seat heating and rear window defogging. The button island filled with physical buttons that you used to operate the climate control makes way for a simpler setup with touch-sensitive buttons. Also new is the option to – just like in the bigger brother Grand Wagoneer – place a screen directly in front of the passenger.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L with three seating rows is not available in the Netherlands.
Speaking of big brothers: in the United States, the Grand Cherokee will also be available again as the longer Grand Cherokee L with three seating rows. That model is not available in the Netherlands, just like the brand new 2.0 four-cylinder gasoline engine called Hurricane 4 Turbo. In the Netherlands, the pre-facelift version is currently only available as a plug-in hybrid 4xe. We expect that the updated version will also only come to us as a plug-in.
