Kia EV9 GT

The Kia EV9 is also available in the Netherlands in GT trim. Indeed, the five-meter-long and, in its lightest form, already over 2,300-kilogram electric SUV gets a sporty top version. It has almost 510 hp and costs almost €90,000.

The Kia EV9 is already available in quite a few variants in the Netherlands. The fun starts with a 217 hp rear-wheel-drive variant with a 76.1 kWh battery, for which you pay €59,995. Above that are 204 hp variants with a 99.8 kWh battery and 384 hp powerful twin-engine and thus four-wheel-drive versions with 99.8 kWh of batteries in the bottom. Each of them must acknowledge their superior in the Kia EV9 GT. It is coming our way as a six-seater and as a seven-seater and has a starting price of €88,795.

The Kia EV9 GT was already presented in the United States at the end of last year and will soon have Dutch soil under its wheels. It has two electric motors with a combined 508 hp and 740 Nm of torque, making it a lot more potent than the previously strongest EV9s. In the bottom is the familiar 99.8 kWh battery, a package that gives the top version a range of 510 kilometers. That range is comparable to that of the other four-wheel-drive variants with that battery. The EV9 with the largest range is not the GT; for that, you have to go for the 204 hp flavors with this battery pack. The Kia EV9 GT is, of course, the fastest EV9.

Almost 2,600 kilos

The Kia EV9 GT sprints from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Not bad for a variant that weighs 2,548 kilos as a six-seater and another 16 kilos more as a seven-seater. For comparison: the 394 hp versions with four-wheel drive need 5.3 seconds for the same sprint. The top speed of the EV9 GT, at 220 km/h, is also higher than that of any other EV9 (up to 200 km/h).

Adjust

The top version of the Kia EV9 can be driven in the driving modes Normal, Eco, Sport, Terrain, and My Drive and also has a real GT mode in which the SUV makes all its tricks available. The colossus has an electronic limited-slip differential and, like the EV6 GT, has Virtual Gear Shift. That is a system that simulates gear changes when you operate flippers behind the steering wheel.

From the outside, you can recognize the Kia EV9 GT by its sportier-looking bumpers, the ‘closed’ roof rails, 21-inch GT wheels, and an extensive series of black accents. Kia also brings the ‘pixelated’ grille to the EV9 GT, a design element that Kia calls ‘Digital Grille’ and that can show various animations. Inside the Kia EV9 GT, you will find suede-covered sports seats and neon-colored accents. A sports steering wheel is, of course, also part of the GT party, as is more extensive mood lighting and a real GT performance timer.

The Kia EV9 GT costs €88,795 as a six-seater. Prefer a seven-seater? That is also possible, and you don’t have to pay extra for it.
