Known Recipe
We have barely met the Peugeot 208 GTI, and its Italian cousin is already on its way. We are, of course, talking about the Lancia Ypsilon HF.
After the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, the Peugeot 208 related to them also received an extra powerful electric powertrain. The result is a 280 hp e-208 with a series of sporty extras. That recipe is also in the works for the latest Lancia Ypsilon.
At Lancia, the sporty treatment historically goes by the name HF. Like the e-208 GTI, the sportiest Ypsilon also gets a 280 hp and 345 Nm electric motor on the front wheels. Lancia previously promised that the Ypsilon would accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. If that’s the case, the Ypsilon HF is a tenth slower than the e-208 GTI, but hey, you won’t notice that. We bet that the top speed of the Lancia is also 180 km/h and a 52 kWh battery allows for a range of 350 km.
Why are we suddenly talking about the Lancia Ypsilon HF? Well, Lancia is throwing two new teaser plates into the world. In the image above, we can already see a bit that the Ypsilon HF gets slightly thicker bumpers than the regular Ypsilon. The second image makes it clear that the HF is also a bit wider along the flanks. We are waiting in suspense, presumably the unveiling is this month.
