First Autonomous Car for Private Individuals

The autonomous car is completely hot again. Lucid Motors wants to challenge the Tesla Model Y with a new smaller electric model and be the first in the world to offer private individuals a fully autonomous car.
We just wrote about Stellantis, which in collaboration with Foxconn and Nvidia is going to supply developed autonomous vans and cars to Uber. Lucid Motors has also found a partner in Nvidia to develop fully autonomous cars.
Lucid releases a teaser of a new electric model that appears smaller than the Lucid Gravity next to it. The electric SUV may be comparable in size to the Tesla Model Y. Lucid seems intent on eventually packing its new model with smart software and hardware from Nvidia. The goal: to offer the world’s first autonomous car to private individuals. Unlike Stellantis, this is not about self-driving EVs that will be offered through a taxi service like Uber or Lyft.
Lucid Motors speaks of a car that should be able to drive autonomously at level four. This means that in theory no driver is needed. Lucid describes this level itself as ‘mind-off’. It is not clear whether the Model Y-like vehicle in the image will come to market earlier with less advanced autonomous capabilities. However, that would not be illogical.
Lucid Motor says it will begin its path to ‘level four autonomous’ by offering ‘autonomous driving at level L2++’ for the Lucid Gravity and its future ‘mid-size’ models.
