Nissan Leaf becomes a Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Nissan Leaf

Mitsubishi and Nissan are increasingly borrowing models from Renault. This time, they are exchanging a car between themselves. The Nissan Leaf is becoming a Mitsubishi!

Mitsubishi borrows many models from Renault. The Colt is a (previous) generation Renault Clio, the ASX is a Captur, the Grandis is a Symbioz, and the brand-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric. Mitsubishi will soon get another model from a different brand. This time, it doesn’t come directly from Renault, but from Nissan. The new Nissan Leaf will soon be ‘Mitsubishi-fied’.

The American branch of Mitsubishi shows an image of the upcoming delivery range. Two models are shown under a cover. One is described by Mitsubishi as a ‘new SUV with a focus on off-road driving’, the other simply as a ‘new electric SUV’. The electric SUV has a rounded, steeply sloping roofline and already reveals some of its lighting signature. You guessed it: that is the Nissan Leaf, which has been adjusted by Mitsubishi at the detail level. In May, Mitsubishi already announced the arrival of its own version of the Leaf, and now we are seeing the first piece of evidence. What the Mitsubishi cousin of the Leaf will be called is still unknown. The other new SUV seems to be little more than a more rugged version of the already existing Mitsubishi Outlander.

It is not yet known whether Mitsubishi will also get a version of the Nissan Leaf in the Netherlands.
