Large collection F1 miniatures added to Automuseum
This weekend, the Netherlands is dominated by Formula 1. Not only in Zandvoort, but also in Betuwse Buren, where an exhibition with more than 1,200 F1 miniatures has been opened in Automuseum Visscher Classique.
Autoweek readers are undoubtedly familiar with Visscher Classique, which has a great collection with ordinary cars from days gone by. Moreover, it is special that part of the collection can be rented for a ride through the Betuwe.
But in addition to the cars in full size, thousands of thumbnails can also be seen in the museum and the collection of actor Michiel Kerbosch has now been added. That is more than 1,200 F1 cars in scale 1 in 43, and the special thing is that the collection shows every Formula 1 car from 1950 to 2010. The cars were gathered and built from the late 70s by Kerbosch, who as a 12-year-old became under the spell of Formula 1 when he visited Zandvoort. The sound, the scent, the danger – the sport got the young kerbosch immediately in the handle. When the actor – who played in countless films, theater pieces and TV series – started collecting miniatures, the goal to get every car from every manufacturer and every rider complete every season.
Sharknose
So many cars, but does Kerbosch still have a favorite? “Yes, I find the Ferrari Sharknose from 1961 very special and of course the black John Player Special livery from the 70s,” says a visibly proud Kerbosch at the unveiling of his collection.
Not often he saw his model cars together, because there were so many in the end that only a small part could be in the office with the actor. The rest was too patiently waiting in boxes in the attic. A shame, Henk Visscher from the car museum in Buren also found and he immediately set up a Formula 1 corner in the museum. There are the Kerbosch cars and also an F1 simulator and a screen with old television images. The collection has been on loan for four years.
