Expensive, huh?
The price differences at gas stations are getting bigger and bigger. For a full tank of 50 liters, you’ll even pay more than €27 extra at the most expensive gas station in the Netherlands compared to the cheapest one.
If you want to fill up your car before going on vacation, you should definitely find out where to do that, according to research by Independer. The most expensive gasoline in the Netherlands currently costs €2.259 per liter, while you only pay €1.708 for the cheapest. That is a difference of more than 55 cents per liter.
If you calculate that for a full tank of 50 liters, you will pay €27.55 more at the most expensive gas station in our country than at the cheapest.
The biggest differences are in Overijssel and Drenthe
“Driving all the way to the other side of the country for cheaper gasoline is not always worth it,” says Michel Ypma, expert at Independer, which listed the gasoline prices. “Fortunately, you can also save a lot within your own region by looking for an affordable gas station.
“This is especially worthwhile in Overijssel: here you can save up to €26.55 on a full tank. There are also large price differences in Drenthe (€26.50). The differences are smallest in Flevoland, but even there it can be around €20 per tank.”
Even within the same place, there is a 48-cent difference
Gasoline prices can also vary considerably within one municipality. The biggest differences can be found in Súdwest-Fryslân. There you pay about 48 cents per liter less at the cheapest gas station than at the most expensive one. With a full tank of 50 liters, that makes a difference of €24.10.
Cheapest gas stations per province
Do you really want a good deal? Then Joontjes Kreditank in Steenwijkerland is the place to be. Here you will currently find the cheapest gasoline in the whole of the Netherlands: 1.708 euros per liter.
“Don’t have time to find out where you can refuel the cheapest? Then it is always wise to drive on to an unmanned gas station, preferably in an industrial area,” says Independer expert Michel Ypma. “These are on average a lot cheaper than manned gas stations along the highway. This saves an average of 12.20 euros on a full tank. Moreover, this difference has been getting bigger in recent years.”
