Renault Kangoo Limo: no kangoo, but absurd

Renault Kangoo Limo

Meet the wacky Renault Kangoo Limo. Although its name suggests otherwise, it’s actually not a Kangoo and therefore not a Renault at all. It’s also not a Limo. Bizarre it is in any case.

Do you also fondly remember the Renault Kangoo Be Bop, that cheerful shortened Kangoo Express with a cacophony of glass roofs and a half-open rear? Then you can probably muster some sympathy for the perhaps even crazier Renault Kangoo Limo. That’s not only not a limousine, it’s actually not a Kangoo or Renault at all.

We understand very well that the creation in the photos is called ‘Limo’. The contraption is indeed incredibly long, although we don’t know exactly how long. However, a limousine is by definition a sedan, the peculiar creation in the photos is completely open and is therefore naturally a convertible. Why it’s actually not a Kangoo and therefore not really a Renault either? Here we go. The car in the photos is basically a Renault Kangoo as it is sold in Argentina. Although it says Renault and Kangoo on it, that Argentine Kangoo is actually little more than a Dacia Dokker with Renault badges, a Renault grille and a modified front bumper.

That brings us to the ‘why’ of this contraption. The Renault Kangoo Limo was made by employees of the Renault factory in Santa Isabel, Argentina, to give visitors and schoolchildren a factory tour of the factory grounds. That’s not possible yet, as Renault is busy preparing the factory for the production of a pick-up. You can read more about that here.
