Is the 308 declawed?
The current generation of the Peugeot 308 is now a solid four years old, which in car land naturally means it’s time for a facelift. AutoWeek can already show you the renewed Peugeot 308, although the car in the photos is still fanatically covered in camouflage stickers.
In March 2021, Peugeot retired the then eight-year-old second generation 308. The then brand new current Peugeot 308 was given a considerably sharper body, sheet metal that, in addition to mild-hybrid, also encompassed plug-in hybrid technology. The Peugeot 308 is about to receive a facelift. In addition to external changes, expect internal changes as well.
The Peugeot 308 SW in these so-called spy photos is still heavily camouflaged at both the front and rear. Although we don’t yet know exactly what the renewed front of the 308 will look like, it appears that Peugeot is waving goodbye to the vertical extension of the headlight units. Whether the 308 will get three considerably shorter vertical LED elements in its place, like the 3008 and 5008, is not entirely clear. The changes at the rear seem considerably less far-reaching.
The Peugeot 308 will undoubtedly retain its 145 hp mild-hybrid powertrain. We also expect to see the recently renewed plug-in hybrid hardware in the updated 308. We expect bigger news for the electric e-308. The current 54 kWh battery and 156 hp electric motor could be replaced by the 58.3 kWh battery and the 213 hp electric motor that DS spooned into the now N°4 called DS 4. The Peugeot e-408 already has this powertrain.
The Peugeot 308 SW as you know it now.
In its first full year of sales – 2022 – the current generation Peugeot 308 was sold 2,649 times. In 2023 and 2024, 2,270 and 2,303 copies were registered respectively. The registration counter stands at 1,053 units for the first five months of this year.
