Up to 525 kW!
The Xpeng G6 is still very young, but it is already being updated. The biggest news: the two electric Chinese SUVs can now charge extremely quickly.
The Xpeng G6 has only been available in the Netherlands since 2024 and is already getting a refresh. This brings both technical and optical changes to Xpeng’s Model Y competitor. The fact that the Xpeng G6 would be visually updated was already known. Earlier this year, we wrote about the updated variant in its home country, China. It is now known to what extent the Xpeng G6 will be updated in Europe. And it turns out? Quite a bit! Big brother G9 is also included in the update session.
The biggest technical news concerns the batteries. All variants of the Xpeng G6 and G9 will receive new LFP batteries. These new batteries provide the pair with very high charging capabilities. The Xpeng G6 will soon be able to fast charge at up to 451 kW, and the G9 even at 525 kW. Extensive technical information and Dutch prices will follow later.
Xpeng G6
You have to look closely to distinguish the updated Xpeng G6 from the original. But there are differences. The horizontal strip that separates the hood from the bumper and houses the LED daytime running lights now consists of one continuous light bar. The 1.934-meter-wide ‘Starlight Wing LED-strip’ as Xpeng calls it also contains the direction indicators. The logo that interrupted the previous light strip moves up one level to the hood. Furthermore, Xpeng is revising the design of the diffuser at the rear slightly and bringing a new paint color to the SUV (Stellar Purple).
There is also news in the Xpeng G6. According to the Chinese, 60 percent of the interior is new. We see not only a new steering wheel, but also new ventilation grilles and a subtly changed dashboard in which they are housed. The G6 also benefits from the arrival of front seats with massage function and a heated rear seat.
Xpeng G9
The larger Xpeng G9 gets a new Black Edition version that – you wouldn’t expect it – is overloaded with black accents. Just like in the G6, you will also find a new steering wheel in the G9. The design of the rest of the interior remains untouched. However, the SUV – like the G6 – gets a new package of safety systems.
