Rijkswaterstaat warns of dangerous roads in the coming days

Snow winter dark

Rijkswaterstaat warns road users that weather conditions in many places can cause dangerous situations in the coming days. Even though salt is being spread.

Rijkswaterstaat indicates that (wet) snow is expected in the course of the evening and night and that the wintry weather will continue in the coming days. Although the organization does not expect busy roads, the chance of slipperiness is greater as a result. “The salt on the road is not working as well,” they state. “Road users are advised to adjust their driving style and maintain sufficient distance.”

The KNMI reports that in the night to Friday, slipperiness due to wintry showers should be taken into account in the west, center, and east of the country. On Thursday evening, the warning already applies to the provinces of North Holland, South Holland, Utrecht, Overijssel, Gelderland, and Flevoland.

From Friday early morning until expected Saturday evening, Code Yellow is in effect throughout the country for slipperiness due to snow, hail, and freezing of wet road sections.

In recent days, it has often been slippery on the road. For example, several accidents occurred on New Year’s Eve morning and last Saturday.
