Seat Leon can go back to the 1930s

Dual Leon Generation

Seat Leon

Seat will not receive completely new models for the time being. This does not mean that the brand has begun to fade away. For example, the Seat Leon is allowed to continue into the next decade, even in a significantly refreshed form.

The role of Seat as a traditional car manufacturer is becoming smaller, but it is still not entirely clear what that means concretely. In any case: Seat SA formally remains the parent company of Cupra, and the Seat brand will continue to exist for the time being. The Ibiza and Arona will soon receive a facelift, and the larger Leon also has years to go. The current generation of the Spanish sister model of the Volkswagen Golf, presented in 2020, is allowed to remain well into the next decade.

We know that eventually there will be a fully electric Cupra Leon that will serve as a sportier alternative to the upcoming electric Volkswagen ID Golf. The current generation Seat Leon with combustion engines is also allowed to remain. According to the English Autocar, the Seat Leon will receive a refresh in 2029. It is likely to be a thorough facelift where the exterior, interior, and powertrains will be significantly overhauled without a platform change. The Leon would receive a fully hybrid powertrain without a plug earlier – already in 2028. The Leon is currently available as a plug-in hybrid, as a mild hybrid, and with a traditional 1.5 without electric assistance.

So it seems that a situation is emerging where a fully electric (Cupra) Leon will be offered alongside an upgraded Seat Leon with combustion engines. Something similar is likely to be seen with the Volkswagen Golf. The Golf with combustion engines will get an electric alternative called the ID Golf around it by around 2029.
