From just after the 124
Despite the certainly not great build quality, a lot of Lada’s have proven to be able to last quite a long time. This also applies to this copy, which is among the oldest Lada’s in our country with the 1977.
This is certainly not the oldest Lada in the Netherlands, but according to our data there are only 26 copies here about that are parent. This green comes from 1977 and was therefore built only three years after the disappearance of the large Fiat example (the 124). It was still clear here that the Lada 1200 was a recalled Fiat 124. Further developments of Lada on this basis were given some more modern traits with more square lighting, with Lada Riva sold under different names as the best -known example.
Incidentally, the question is whether this was called Lada 1200 from the outset. That was the name that was printed on the Lada 2101 for various export markets, including the Netherlands. This copy is not delivered new in the Netherlands. Only came to Dutch license plate in 2008. He has been with his current and third Dutch owner since September 2023.
We wonder how much is still original about this Russian spotted by Autoweek Forum member classic driver. The lacquer color in any case fits well with that period, but we wonder if this lacquer layer is the original. Here and there we see at least some edges that suggest that the possible spraying will not have happened very recently. Yet the car is certainly not bad. The chromed bumpers still seem to shine reasonably well and the sheet metal seems to be quite deprived of dents and butsen. Such an ‘early’ Lada is worth cherishing, in this state for sure.
