This Opel Corsa is still rare and sleek – Enthusiast wanted

Beige, not brown

Opel Corsa

Only a few hundred Opel Corsa A models with valid MOT are left in our country. This one is without a doubt one of the nicest ones remaining.

In the early 80s, Dutch people flocked to Opel dealerships, largely due to the first Corsa. In its best year, 1984, a staggering 18,000 were registered. That number was never matched again. Later in that decade, the Corsa faced more challenges, and in 1988, the year this Corsa was built, around 11,000 were sold. The 1990 facelift hardly changed that. This model is from before that major modernization, but it already has the slightly modified grille from 1987. So, it’s not a true ‘original Corsa’. With its beige paint and orange indicators, it still looks pleasantly quaint.

Someone once tried to freshen up the Corsa with a set of newer Opel wheel covers. Otherwise, things have (thankfully) been kept nice and original. The car has also been well cared for. One of the biggest enemies of these Corsas, the rust devil, seems to have left it alone. It’s almost certain that the car has been stored indoors or covered for a long time. The first owner seems to have only parted with it in 2009 (after 21 years). Chances are, that’s the main reason for its remarkable condition. Who knows, maybe the five-digit odometer has never been fully rotated, and 68.289 is the current mileage.

Opel Corsa

All in all, it’s an Opel Corsa A that you won’t find easily anymore. In that light, we understand the hefty price tag of €3,950. At the same time, it’s questionable whether someone has that money for this old Opel, which is not really widely cherished. Some recent owners parted with the Corsa again after a relatively short time, so it’s clearly not a heartthrob. That’s actually a bit touching, isn’t it? Who will embrace this beautiful little car?
