It is estimated that around 80 percent of Citroëns in the Netherlands have been repaired with an airbag problem.

Stellantis, the parent company of Citroën, announced a recall in June for more than 33,000 Citroëns C3 and DS3 in the Netherlands. However, the delivery of new airbags was slow, so that thousands of cars could not be repaired.

The owners received the urgent advice from the manufacturer to no longer go on the road, because the airbags may explode after activation. Earlier this year a woman in France died of injuries due to an airbag from the Takata brand.

Since 2014, millions of cars from different brands with Takata airbags have been recalled in different countries. These airbags can explode due to a production error, so that several drivers have already died worldwide. The risk of problems is greater in warm weather.
