Xpeng is also copying: Xpeng GX is Range Rover Light

Xpeng GX

Is the wait for the electric Range Rover too long for you? Then the Chinese Xpeng will soon offer an alternative. This Xpeng GX looks a lot like a Range Rover, but it is completely electric.

The time when it was the rule rather than the exception for a new model from a Chinese car brand to be at least strongly inspired by a European or American model is long behind us. Nevertheless, a Chinese car manufacturer occasionally succumbs to copying behavior. For example, SAIC – a new brand from SAIC Motor – comes with a model that it openly states is inspired by a ‘much more expensive European car’: the Porsche Taycan. Xpeng has also found its way to the copier and is putting the Range Rover on the scanner.

Years ago, Land Rover announced the arrival of an electric Range Rover. It is still not here, but thanks to Xpeng, there will soon be an electric SUV that strongly resembles a Range Rover. It is called Xpeng GX and is accompanied by the Chinese car manufacturer’s marketing slogan ‘The new luxury’. The Xpeng GX is reminiscent of the Range Rover from every angle. With the exception of the rear: there we see a taillight cluster that more closely matches that of the Range Rover Sport. Even the gold-colored paint of the Xpeng GX in the photos is reminiscent of the Sunset Gold and Batumi Gold in which the Range Rover is available.

The original from Land Rover: the Range Rover.

The Xpeng GX will be an SUV with three rows of seats and six seating positions and promises to be very spacious, according to its creators. We do not yet have technical specifications, as Xpeng is currently only previewing the car’s arrival. We are aiming not only for fully electric versions, but also for the arrival of variants with a gasoline engine that charges the battery. Whether the GX will also come to our side is not yet known.
