Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster: Just as exotic as his name Lang

A feast or a burden for the eye?

Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster

If there is a brand that makes quite tasteful works of art that are also lightning fast thanks to a powerful V12, it is Pagani. Meet the Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster: an open exotic car that has almost as many horsepower as interesting details.

We’re not going to ask you to say Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster ten times fast in a row, but we’re doing it indirectly anyway. The Huayra Codalunga Speedster deserves a moment of attention. As its name suggests, it is the open version of the Huayra Codalunga shown three years ago, and that is remarkable in itself.

Let’s rewind a bit. Although Pagani presented special editions and ‘really final’ versions of the Zonda almost to the point of boredom until 2019, that model presented in 1999 was officially succeeded by the Huayra in 2011. The Huayra was in turn succeeded by the Utopia in 2022. Between the Huayra and the Utopia, Pagani founder and designer Horacio Pagani found time and space to present the Huayra Codalunga. The Huayra Codalunga was in fact to the Huayra what a McLaren 765 LT was to the 720 S: an even more exclusive Longtail variant. Indeed: with a significantly longer rear end. Horacio Pagani and his comrades are now taking the scissors to that Huayra Codalunga.

The Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster can also be closed.

We have almost said everything directly, but that does not make the Huayra Codalunga Speedster any less special. Where the total car layman cannot distinguish certain Ferraris from Lamborghinis or Aston Martins, even those who are absolutely not car enthusiasts can immediately see that this is not a creation of one of those brands. It is too voluptuous for a Lamborghini, too busy for a Ferrari, and the somewhat semi-classic detail work is perhaps most reminiscent of the latest supercars from Spyker. We therefore advise you to study the photos carefully. Whether you find it beautiful or ostentatious: it is always intriguing.

Just like behind the front seats of the closed Huayra Codalunga, there is a 6.0-liter V12 from Mercedes-AMG behind the seats of this open-cut variant. That machine delivers 840 hp and 1,100 Nm. Shifting is done, just like in the Huayra Codalunga with a fixed roof, via a Pagani-modified sequential seven-speed gearbox from Xtrac. In contrast to that Huayra Codalunga, you can also get the Huayra Codalunga Speedster with a more traditional manual gearbox.

Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster

Even more eccentric inside than outside.

We have to guess at its price, although we dare to bet that the Huayra Codalunga Speedster is even more expensive than the closed version for which the Italians wanted to see at least €7 million three years ago. Anyone who wants to be able to count a Pagani Huayra Codalunga Speedster as his or her own must not only be almost unfortunately rich, but also be able to act quickly. Only 10 copies of it will be made.
