Charging and Recharging

Never before has the Volkswagen Transporter been available with so many different types of powertrains as now. The delivery range is immediately expanded with the plug-in hybrid Transporter eHybrid.
The Volkswagen Transporter comes in various sizes and appearances. There are various lengths, it is available as a panel van, Kombi, and Caravelle, and is not only available with diesel engines and electric powertrains, but now also with plug-in hybrid machines. The plug-in hybrid variant is officially called Volkswagen Transporter eHybrid. It costs a minimum of €46,690.
For that money, the plug-in hybrid commercial vehicle offers a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a more than 150 hp electric motor. That interaction is good for a system power of 233 hp. Those forces go to the front wheels via a CVT. The fully electric range that the 16.5 kWh battery makes possible is 54 kilometers and the Transporter Hybrid can tow 2,300 kilos. The 0-100 sprint – however irrelevant – is completed in 11 seconds. Volkswagen will release more details about the powertrain later. What else we know: it will be available as Transporter, Life, Style, Bulli and PanAmericana. The first copies will be delivered next year.
