The Mercedes-AMG GT is already no slouch, but it can get even more extreme. This Concept AMG GT Track Sport proves that, if all goes well.
Mercedes-AMG is testing a car that goes a step further than the regular AMG GT. Probably a track monster, but we secretly hope a street-legal version will also emerge. We now see the car in a still quite concealing camouflage wrap, though it’s somewhat discernible that it has quite a few unique shapes. Although the AMG GT is presumably the basis, the newcomer looks clearly different, especially at the rear.
Mercedes-AMG promises that this car will shift paradigms compared to existing models in terms of weight balance, aerodynamics, and driving dynamics. That sounds promising. Under the hood lies a V8, which almost certainly must be the familiar 4.0 biturbo we’ve known from Mercedes-AMG for years, but undoubtedly in one of its most powerful forms to date. In the Mercedes-AMG GT, this powerplant delivers up to 612 hp. That there’s much more power in it is proven by, for example, Brabus, and the previous generation Mercedes-AMG GT also had its moments as a Black Series.
